Day 31

What an experience this has been! Thank all of you who commented and those who looked. The Golden Mean is everywhere if you take the time to see. That is one of the reasons for this shot. If we all use our eye to really "see"there are amazing things out there. Many people look and don't see. We as photographers we have the gift of putting that exclamation point on to the mundane everyday things that people look at day in and day out but don't necessarily take the time to "see". You all open my eyes up every day and I thank all of you for that. Just like they say,"A picture IS worth a thousand words".

Day 30

O.K. this loosely follows the Golden Mean I couldn't resist this little guy and the light was so golden this time of day. One more DAY!!!!!

Day 29 and a half

Kim is right, I had a hard time deciding if I should crop tighter loosen up the shot or re-shoot. Here is a looser version of day 29. I known it doesn't follow the Mean very well but it has been a busy day and I haven't the time to re-shoot it.

Day 29

This is a tea pot my mother gave me some years ago. I hardly ever use it but I do cherish it. Notice those flamingos? I guess she knows me pretty well...

Day 28

I drove around today looking for things to shoot. This little guy was very cooperative he's just a run of the mill ground squirrel sunning himself.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Day 27

I was driving to work and saw this snowman. I had to stop and dress it up a bit. It was very plain and I happened to have these party decorations in my car and a screw driver for his nose. I had a number of people stop and comment on my additions to this snowman and got lots of laughs.

Day 26

Woke up to a suprise snowfall today and the kids had a snow day. I on the other hand had to go to work.

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Day 25

Sally the salamander. My daughter found her under a rock outside. She was most likely hibernating.

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Day 24

I am down to raiding my daughter's "Pink" things. Found this and decided to use it in this theme.

Friday, January 23, 2009

Day 23

This auger thingy was on the front of a bucket loader type tractor. I imagine it is for churning up the snow so it can be removed or something like that. The tractor had all 4 tires chained up like it was ready for 10 feet of snow.

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Day 22

I found this miniature container at my favorite thrift store. It says made in England. For some reason it looks so familiar to me but I am not sure why... It also says Baret Ware on the bottom. Anyway I love the pattern and colors.

Day 20

Found this pine cone the other day and brought it home for a studio shot. I love the textures and lines nature creates.

Monday, January 19, 2009

Day 19

Just happened to pass a bunch of wooden shipping flats and noticed the GM. I left a bit of the natural wood bits in the upper right and lower left. The wood was painted this blue color at the ends only.

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Day 18

This is Roscoe our Christmas Beagle (Heinz 57 mix) It was such a beautiful day my daughter and I took him to the park. After running around he settled down with his find of the day. I noticed the mountains in the background and got down on the grass while he was busy with his stick. I'd love some suggestions as far as post processing. I did some but I always hesitate on taking things too far.

Saturday, January 17, 2009

Day 17

Went to our little historical museum today and saw this interesting old cement mixer. Love the old rust and gears.

Friday, January 16, 2009

Day 16

Got my new 50mm lens so I am experimenting with it. This is a shot of a Chinese hat (rice picking? not sure of the correct name of it). I held it up to the sun and liked the woven structure I saw through it.

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Day 15

Here we are in the middle of January and it has been unseasonably warm. Found this little guy while walking the dog. This little flower is confused!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Day 14

Found this in the kids' drawer. They haven't played with it for years. I knew I was saving it for something :D View in large format for best detail.
It's a spinning top looking at the bottom of it up.

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Day 13

The top image is a second shot since I looked at that first one and thought it was not very good.

O.K. maybe a bit lazy today but, I actually had to work and I also have a job this evening so, I went for the obvious a conch shell.

Monday, January 12, 2009

Day12

Ever since I was a kid I have always loved Flamingos. (I couldn't say the word flamingo so, I called them "Fingos") Now I know why I liked them so much... Their body, necks and heads follow the Golden Mean and are naturally appealing to our eye.

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Day 11

Even at the market I am starting to "see" the GM. :)

Saturday, January 10, 2009

Day 10

A big day out for me... We live in a very remote area. Had to get to the mall as I knew there was a merry-go-round there and I could shoot it from the second level. I did not have a tripod or mono pod with me so I just braced myself against a pillar for this one.

Friday, January 9, 2009

Day 9

May be not as obvious as some of the other shots but I think this one follows the Golden Mean.

Thursday, January 8, 2009

Day 8

Even Geese were showing me the Golden Mean today!
If they can see it surely I can! LOL :D

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Day 7

This is a shot of a dog toy. I was going to title it blue ball but then I caught myself :). I am having a hard time seeing in 3 dimensions and not using definite lines as the mean. I'm working on it and this theme is truly challenging me. I would like to use the background to create the mean and a foreground object as the focal point. I'm not seeing it naturally and trying my darnedest. I recognize it in other people's photos just haven't been able to capture it myself as well as I would like...

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

Day 6

These nesting dolls somehow have always been called Olga dolls in our house. These were left out after the Christmas clean up and I just noticed they weren't put away with all the Christmas decorations.

Monday, January 5, 2009

Day 5

While at the park I spotted this old oak tree and it's root above ground.

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Day 4

We found this little guy in our wood stack. Very unusual this time of year.

Saturday, January 3, 2009

Day 3

This is a video multiplier used in a very specialized piece of machinery to transfer movie film to video.

Friday, January 2, 2009

Day 2

Found these old saw horses and they were smiling at me. Still trying to keep it simple with the Golden Mean in mind.

Thursday, January 1, 2009

Day 1

This is day 1 keeping it simple. I just happened to glance over at my couch and saw the pattern of the pillows and decided to photograph the pattern and accent the basics of the Golden Mean.
