Found this pine cone the other day and brought it home for a studio shot. I love the textures and lines nature creates.

This will be a real challenge for me. As my 30 day photography challenge I have chosen to shoot with "The Golden Mean" or "Golden Rectangle" (closely related to the rule of thirds) as my theme. It is composition I will be focusing on rather than a specific subject. Knowing this is my weakest area of my photography should really force me to learn. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1013&message=29939768
What lovely details you've captured plus the added element of your great lighting. It really brings the pine cone to life and is a great reminder that if we only look - we would find beauty in many things we would ordinarily pass by.
ReplyDeleteThis has got to be the coolest photo of a pinecone I have ever seen. I looked at it for a long time before I read your information and I almost did not figure it out. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWell that's just the prettiest pine cone I've ever seen!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colour you've got in the pine cone, those brown tones are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteDid you have to pay it much to sit for you? The setting and lighting are both perfect, thanks for bringing us such an extremely detailed piece of nature.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo!
Awesome colours and lighting for a lovely mellow mood shot. Love the off-edge composition, which I am never brave enough to do much and admire so much when others like you do it. The flashes of blue/purple in the middle of it are great too. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThe hot rim works on the left, not overdone. Lighting in the center is beautiful and subtle. Love the cobalt blue on the mid center radiating lines. Nice to see a pine cone that illustrates the GM with out showing it the typical way. Well done.
