These nesting dolls somehow have always been called Olga dolls in our house. These were left out after the Christmas clean up and I just noticed they weren't put away with all the Christmas decorations.

This will be a real challenge for me. As my 30 day photography challenge I have chosen to shoot with "The Golden Mean" or "Golden Rectangle" (closely related to the rule of thirds) as my theme. It is composition I will be focusing on rather than a specific subject. I like being able to see different aspects of each doll....it seems that a bit more light would have popped them some
ReplyDeleteI would have thought that the smallest menushka (sp?) should be slightly higher up in the layout to fit the mean, but I like the shot and I'm really enjoying your pictures.

Very cool shot but I think more light coming from the bottom left and right giving sme long shadows would look nice

ReplyDeleteTry darker light to find some deep shadows, plus try down lower and more head on to get a different angle, it would still be within that magical golden mean.
Yes, we still have the odd decoration still displayed. I'll get round to putting them away one day! Nice use of the dolls to create the golden mean effect.

finally go around to putting our decorations away the other day, but the boxes are still lying around our study, waiting for the trip to the garage! I wondered if a softbox or more diffused light might have helped this a little, there's not to many highlight spots, but I find them a little distracting.
